Hi, I’m John McCrea, and I chose the handle “The Real McCrea” because I was tired of getting confused with the other people with the name John McCrea, like the lead singer for the band cake or the comic book illustrator from Northern Ireland who owns johnmccrea.com, or even the other one with the slightly different spelling, who wrote the poem “In Flanders Field”.
I write here about big stuff that I’m passionate about, primarily the Web’s transition from the walled garden model of social networking to an emerging Social Web.
I’ve been honored to be invited to do a guest post on TechCrunch, entitled Facebook Connect and OpenID Relationship Status: ‘It’s Complicated’. I was flattered to learn that another post of mine, Birth of the Social Web: Facebook Connect and Google Friend Connect Now Available to All, was called “essential reading” by Wired. And I was surprised and excited to see that even the New York Times linked to my coverage of the OpenID UX Summit.
If you want to communicate with me, my email address is mccrea dot john at gmail dot com. And my mobile number is 218.4502 in the 650 area code.
When i’ve read the ‘about’ section i was so thrilled to read your blog, it seemed like a life’s story of a very successfull man which would be really interesting to read and i still think so since i’m still writing this comment and just after this going to read your blog. Good luck and i hope i’ll like it!
Hello,
Is this the real John McCrea? That is, the tall brother of Jim “Big Foot” McCrea?
Best,
Tom Tolles
